Timelapse in Google Earth

Timelapse in Google Earth

Our world is changing at an unprecedented pace, but it can be difficult to understand the scale of our impact on the planet. To show that change like never before, we set out to add a new dimension to Google Earth — time.

Our world is changing at an unprecedented pace, but it can be difficult to understand the scale of our impact on the planet.

To show that change like never before, we set out to add a new dimension to Google Earth — time.

24 million satellite images from the past 37 years, 2 million hours of carbon-neutral rendering, one Earth to explore.

Now anyone can witness four decades of planetary change with their own eyes.

Within a week of launch, Timelapse in Google Earth had be covered by over 1000 media outlets in 90 countries, making it one of the biggest story of the year for Google.

Google commited to updated the Timelapse imagery throughout at least the next decade. We hope that this perspective of the planet will ground debates, encourage discovery and shift perspectives about our most pressing global issues.
